Red Balloon Aerospace
Building India's Integrated Near-Space Infrastructure
The Mission
Between the ground and the satellites lies an altitude band that the world has largely left unclaimed, the stratosphere, from 1 to 50 Km above Earth. It is persistent, sovereign, and increasingly contested. Red Balloon Aerospace exists to ensure that India owns, operates, and leads in this domain, through indigenous platforms, deep-tech engineering, and a long-term vision for near-space as national infrastructure.
The Platforms
VISTA
High altitude Super-Pressure Balloons - 20 to 50 Km,
Long-duration stratospheric platforms designed for persistent applications. VISTA enables intelligence at altitudes unreachable by conventional aircraft and below the orbital cost of satellites
ALTIS
Advanced long-endurance tethered Aerostats 1 to 5 Km
Tethered aerostat systems built for persistent low-altitude applications. ALTIS platforms are rapidly deployable, operationally resilient, and designed for continuous unmanned operation.
HELIX
Hydrogen-Lift Airships - 20 to 25 Km
Next-generation airships using hydrogen lift for sustainable applications. HELIX addresses applications across geographically diverse landscapes.
DIVE
Data Inference & Visualisation Engine
The intelligence layer that unifies data across all Red Balloon platforms. DIVE processes real-time sensor inputs from VISTA, ALTIS, and HELIX to deliver actionable intelligence.
The Opportunity
The global Non-Terrestrial Network market is projected to exceed a hundred billion USD by 2033, growing at 34% annually. Near-space platforms are the critical missing layer in 6G infrastructure, border surveillance architecture, and disaster response ecosystem. Red Balloon Aerospace is building that layer — in India with global applicability.
The Team
Red Balloon Aerospace is led by Dr. C. V. S. Kiran (Co-Founder & CEO) and Sireesh Pallikonda (Co-Founder & COO), bringing together deep expertise in aerospace engineering, materials science, global launch services, and commercial strategy.
