Change often begins with a small realization, but sometimes, it takes a profound personal moment to spark a transformation. For me, that moment was during an official trip with, Pawan, Co-Founder, Skyroot Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. I remember feeling disheartened when I looked at the photographs we took; I could not recognize the person staring back at me. That was a turning point—a moment of deep reflection that set me on a journey of reclaiming my health.
From June 6, 2024, to today, I have undergone a significant transformation, reducing my weight from 109 kg to 82 kg. It was not just about shedding kilos, but rather it was about gaining a new lease on life.

Under the medical supervision of Dr. B. Somaraju and Dr. P.V. Satyanarayana (Both stalwarts in the field of Cardiology) and with the unwavering support of my family and well-wishers, I embarked on a Low Carbohydrate Healthy Fat (LCHF) diet combined with intermittent fasting. This approach not only changed my physical appearance but also revolutionized my mindset and energy levels.

From Misconceptions to Mindfulness
Like many, I harboured several misconceptions about nutrition. As a vegetarian, I relied heavily on carbohydrates, consumed a lot of sweets and included minimal protein and minimal healthy fats in my diet. Fast food - often made with unhealthy oils, had crept into my routine, further exacerbating my health issues. Despite occasional exercise, my dietary habits were counterproductive. This lifestyle caught up with me. My triglycerides shot up to 162 mg/dL, my HbA1c rose to 5.9 (a warning sign of prediabetes). I was diagnosed with Grade 2 fatty liver, which was inching toward Grade 3. On top of this, I suffered from elevated uric acid levels and frequent gout flares. My body was sending distress signals that I could no longer ignore.
The Turning Point: A New Approach
During the presentations of Dr. Satyanarayana, I realized that exercise alone would not solve my problems; I needed to address the root cause—my diet and the Insulin Resistance Problem. Under the guidance of Dr. B. Somaraju and Supervision of Dr. Satyanarayana, I adopted the Low Carbohydrate Healthy Fat (LCHF) diet. This meant prioritizing healthy fats, moderate protein and significantly reducing carbohydrate intake according to ones test reports. Currently, I consume very less carbs, more protein and more healthy fat. During my journey, I also realize that vegetable oils like Sunflower, Safflower, Rice bran, etc are the very dangerous to cause significant damage to our body in a silent way. Especially this book that was recommended during the presentations of Dr. P.V.Satyanarayana contained valuable insights about how vegetable oils destroy our health.

Currently, we use cold-pressed, unrefined coconut oil at home, which is the best one, in addition to Ghee and Butter. Intermittent fasting became another key component of my routine, allowing my body to rest and rejuvenate during fasting windows. So, NO LUNCH !

What struck me most was how sustainable and effective this approach was. For the first time, I felt in control of my eating habits. The science behind the LCHF diet, coupled with periodic medical testing to monitor my progress, reinforced my belief in its efficacy. My passion for experimentation played a significant role here—I enjoyed tracking my health metrics and observing the tangible improvements.
Words of Wisdom That Mattered
Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate to have incredible support. My parents, wife and children have always been my pillars of strength and their encouragement meant the world to me. Among the many well-wishers who constantly inspired me, Dr. K. Venugopala Rao (my father-in-law), Col. R. Jitendra stood out. Their words—genuine and heartfelt—touched me deeply and motivated me to persevere. Their words often remind me that good health is a lifelong commitment, not just a short-term goal. Support of Dr. K. Anoop Reddy and Dr. N. Raghuram, my close friends was also great in times of need. Also, the constant encouragement and motivation of Col. Dr. Sanjiv Bhutani, Dr Torsten Scherer, Dr Regina Scherer and Dr. Christian Kuebel are unforgettable.
However, there were moments of doubt and even ridicule. Friends and acquaintances would say, “Let us see when you actually reduce weight.” Some joked at my expense, while others offered well-meaning advice. These comments, though tough to hear, fueled my determination. I resolved to prove, first to myself, that change was possible.
The Results: A New Lease on Life
Today, my body feels lighter, more agile and energized than ever before – feeling of being Young. My health markers have dramatically improved—my triglycerides, HbA1c and liver health are now well within optimal ranges. Gout flares have subsided with no medication for uric acid. I no longer feel the sluggishness that once held me back. Perhaps the most rewarding part of this journey is the newfound confidence I have gained. Sometimes, when I look at myself in photographs, I catch myself thinking, “Is this really me?” It is a surreal but satisfying feeling to see the tangible results of months of hard work and dedication.
Reflections and Takeaways
This experience has taught me some valuable lessons that I wish to share:
1. Diet is Key: Exercise is important, but it’s only part of the equation. Understanding your body’s nutritional needs and correcting dietary misconceptions can have a profound impact.
2. Periodic Testing is Vital: Regular health check-ups and self-monitoring can provide valuable insights into your progress and motivate you to stay on track.
3. Support Matters: Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you. A strong support system can make all the difference.
4. Patience and Persistence Pay Off: Sustainable change does not happen overnight. Celebrate small victories and stay consistent.
